Senija is a full professor of Marketing at Rabat Business School. Holding a PhD from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, Senija has spent 15 years contributing to academia in the UK, mainly in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and London. Her expertise encompasses supervising PhD researchers, developing and delivering offline and digital undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and managing large-scale research projects and initiatives. Notably, she served as the Director of the Centre for Finance and Management Studies (CeFiMS) at SOAS, University of London, where she led innovative executive distance and online learning MSc programmes.
A native of Poreč, a picturesque coastal town in Istria, Croatia, Senija has always been drawn to the complexities of tourism. Her current research focuses on port cities, coastal communities, and the sustainable development of the Blue Economy as part of the Cooperation of Science and Technology (COST) Action initiative, “Rethinking Blue Economy.”
Senija’s work contributes to a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment, exploring intersections between marketing, consumer culture theory, political geographies, and cultural studies. Her adaptability extends to research in off-grid projects and medical technology.
Her findings have been published in journals such as the Journal of Travel Research, Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Marketing Management, and many others. She actively shares her insights through workshops, conferences, and invited talks, enriching the global research environment.
